Cheaper Easter
Buy your easter eggs the day after easter at up to 75% off. Chocolate never goes off. Put them in a container lined top and bottom with a tea towel, and place in the chest freezer. Take out night before easter for perfect easter eggs, they don't go white or flaky, they are the same as if just bought.
DIY drain cleaner
Fill sink with very hot water, add 1 cup salt, 1 cup white vinegar and half cup washing soda. Once washing soda has dissolved, pull the plug and let it flush out the drains. Doing this on a regular basis helps prevent odours and build ups that can cause blockages. The salt will help to keep small roots from taking up residence in your pipes.
Clean out lint filter in the dryer, and the one at the back as well.
Mums Breakfast Special
English Muffins
Eggs and melted cheese and ham or bacon fried on a muffin.
Secret Hotcakes
1 cup SR flour
3/4 cup water
2 heaped tbs milk powder
2 eggs - separated
Beat flour, water, milk powder and egg yolks together. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff. Using a metal spoon, fold egg whites in to batter. Heat frying pan and pour 1/2 cup batter at a time and cook each pancake.
Pancake syrup
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups hot water
1 tsp vanilla extract
Place sugar and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat stirring until sugar is dissolved. Boil for 5 minutes. Take off heat and carefully pour in vanilla extract, it may splatter when pouring in. Let cool and store in a glass bottle.
Strawberry Thickshakes
4 cups vanilla ice cream
2 cups icy cold milk
1/2 cup cream
1/4 cup strawberry flavouring
Put all ingredients in a blender and blitz until well combined.
DIY cleaners
Extra strength multi purpose cleaner
1/4 cup bicarb soda
3/4 cup cloudy ammonia
3/4 cup white vinegar
4 litres warm water
2 drops food colouring - optional - for safety
Mix all ingredients together for a great all purpose cleaner for the bathroom and kitchen
Window cleaner
1/2 tspn dishwashing liquid
3 tbs vinegar
2 cups water 1 drop blue food colouring.'Mix all ingredients and place in a spray bottle.
Vinegar window cleaner
1/2 cup white vinegar
4 litres warm water
Mix and scrub with a lint free cloth to wash and a microfibre glass cloth to dry
Scouring powder
1 cup bicarb soda
1 cup borax
1 cup salt
Blend and store n a container out of reach of children
Furniture polish
1 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup lemon juice
Pour oil and lemon juice in to a jar and stir to combine. To use, dip a dust cloth or rag into oil, blot oil by folding cloth together and then dust your furniture.
Washing powder
1 bar laundry soap
1 cup washing soda
1/2 cup borax
Grate soap and combine with other ingredients and store in a jar. 3 teaspoons per load for top loader, 2 for a front loader.
Pre wash spray
200ml cloudy ammonia
200 ml shampoo
200mls water
1 tsp eucalyptus oil.Mix togeher and store in a spray bottle. Shake well before spraying collars and cuffs.
Super effective weed spray
4 litres white vinegar
1 cup salt
1 tbs dishwashing detergent.
Mix all ingredients well and spray on weeds.
